xTool F2 plastic settings

6 tried and tested plastic and polymer settings for the xTool F2, covering PLA (3D prints), consumer electronics, plastic drinkware and dart flights. Every recipe here has been run on a real F2 in the L3D workshop before being added, with prep tips and notes where they matter.

Every machine is slightly different. Treat these as proven starting points and always run a small test first.

F2 + plastic: common questions

Is it safe to engrave any plastic?

No. Stick to known laser safe plastics like the ones in these recipes and never engrave PVC or vinyl, which release corrosive gas that damages lungs and machines.

Why do dark plastics engrave lighter?

Many dark polymers turn pale where the laser melts the surface, which is what recipes marked engraves white or engraves tan rely on for contrast.

Why do my results look different to yours?

Materials vary between batches and suppliers, machines drift, and focus matters. Treat every number here as a proven starting point, run a small test first, then adjust in small steps.
