xTool F2 stainless steel settings

15 tried and tested stainless steel settings for the xTool F2, covering jewellery & annealing, bare and brushed. Every recipe here has been run on a real F2 in the L3D workshop before being added, with prep tips and notes where they matter.

Every machine is slightly different. Treat these as proven starting points and always run a small test first.

F2 + stainless steel: common questions

Can a diode laser really mark stainless steel?

Yes, with the right settings. Slow speeds and full power let a blue diode anneal a permanent dark mark, while infrared and fiber modules mark stainless faster and more cleanly. The settings here say which module each recipe was tested with.

Why do some stainless recipes use a focus offset?

Running slightly out of focus spreads the beam and heats the surface more evenly, which is how the deep black annealed look is achieved. Where a recipe needs it, the offset is listed on the card.

Why do my results look different to yours?

Materials vary between batches and suppliers, machines drift, and focus matters. Treat every number here as a proven starting point, run a small test first, then adjust in small steps.
