F2 Ultra + aluminium: common questions

Why does anodized aluminium engrave so brightly?

The laser removes the coloured anodized layer to reveal the bare metal underneath, so the mark comes out silver white against the colour. It is one of the most forgiving materials to engrave.

Do different anodized colours need different settings?

Mostly no, which is why several recipes here are marked all colours. Very light colours sometimes want a touch more power for even contrast, so test first on a spare piece.

Why do my results look different to yours?

Materials vary between batches and suppliers, machines drift, and focus matters. Treat every number here as a proven starting point, run a small test first, then adjust in small steps.
