F1 Ultra + glass: common questions

Why do glass recipes mention tempera paint or dish soap?

A thin coating helps the surface absorb the laser energy evenly, which stops chipping and gives a smoother frosted finish. It washes straight off afterwards.

Can I engrave curved glassware without a rotary?

Narrow designs up to roughly 40mm wide often work on a curved surface laid flat, and several recipes here note that approach. For full wraps you will want the rotary attachment.

Why do my results look different to yours?

Materials vary between batches and suppliers, machines drift, and focus matters. Treat every number here as a proven starting point, run a small test first, then adjust in small steps.
