F1 Ultra + leatherette: common questions

What is the difference between leatherette and real leather settings?

Laserable leatherette is engineered to engrave with high contrast at low power, so it needs far gentler settings than real leather. Check which one you have before you burn, because leatherette scorches quickly if you use leather settings.

How do I keep leatherette clean after engraving?

Wipe the engraved area with a damp cloth or a little diluted cleaner straight after the job. Residue wipes off easily while fresh and is much harder to shift once it has settled.

Why do my results look different to yours?

Materials vary between batches and suppliers, machines drift, and focus matters. Treat every number here as a proven starting point, run a small test first, then adjust in small steps.
